Perfect strangers

An ode to the kindness of strangers. The smiley lady who guided us through the spaghetti corridors around Nation metro in Paris. Jean Charles the quietly confident pro golfer who also gave us valuable advice on the metro - the human capacity for problem solving still exceeds any iphone app, sorry Apple - and invited us back to explore more of Biarritz.

Fabienne and benjamin from biarritz who were so generous with their easy conversation ( in English), fine wine and contacts, including Craig Gower. Smart, cultured and bubbly Sarah who invited us to Lausanne without a moment's hesitation. And her buddy since school Sylvie, for sharing her fabulous talent - you rocked matadero Madrid.

And the parisienne who took this pic just today. There are many more strangers who have made our travels hassle free, fun and more meaningful. Thank you.

Walk this way

We burn off our tapas and vinos by being good Catholics and doing part of the famous pilgrim walk from France to Spain, El Camino.

bloodsport

The queen of Spain refuses to watch bullfights. She's vegetarian.

After witnessing a couple of fights, I have to side with the queen. Around 10 men, one on horseback, attack the bull before the last matador finishes him off. Not a fair fight.

It's part of the culture. Some people say they treat the bull with dignity before he dies.

Here I am happily posing with the red cape, before the bullfight. Having second thoughts about Pamplona now.
